Watch what brand panel you purchase. Square D and Cutler Hammer breakers are twice the price of Murrays or univ. style. Can be significant in total cost of panel and breakers. All the brands hold up about the same. Buy the heavy duty receptacles that have the clamp style to hold the wire. Stranded wire is recommended for resistance to breakage from vibration.

I do not understand why anyone would not wire their bus as they would a house..
220v service and split to code in the panel using single pole breakers for 110v and double for 220v...
i have a spare 220v breaker sitting in the panel just so i can shut off every thing else and run a weld machine if i want...
you can use a 50 amp 4 wire to a 30 amp 3 wire if a campground lacks 220v  wire.

so...why not ?

All the RV parks that I go to have 120/240v services. You can pay as much for a cord end as you want. They have them with pull handles and any thing else you can imagine, but when you get right down to it ,it is nothing but a 4 wire range cap same as the one on your house range.[if your house is up to current code] If I was going to put a service in a conversion,I would certainly go with a 50amp 120/240 sit up.The reason for this is, on this set up ,u have 50Amp on each leg of your service which is 100 amps of usable 120v power. If you go with a 30amp 120v service you are going to have 30amps of usable power.Even if you jump one side of your panel to the other side, you are still only going to have 30 amps,This was what the prehistoric motor homes all had.I don't even think you can get this set up on even the cheapest motor home any more.I can tell you,I have made the journey out of a nice dry motor home into a pour down to reset a tripped 30 amp breaker ,When you add up a 120v air conditioner ,the tv ,the microwave, the coffee maker ,an electric skillet and your lighting and exhaust fans ,you can use up 30 amps in a hurry,

I put in a square D QO 100 amp panel and went on Ebay and found a 50 amp main breaker direct replacement for the 100 amp main breaker. Works great.
