Replacing Prevost Driver Window and Entrance Door Window

I found new double pane windows to replace the foggy ones. I currently have the drivers window out. There's 4 pieces of metal molding around the exterior edges of the glass, held by about 5 screws each side. Then the glass itself was surrounded on each side by a plastic edge. This plastic edge makes the window about 1/4-1/2" thicker and I think provides some cushion. Otherwise it would be glass on metal frame. Lots of silicone/sealant to be cleaned out.

The door window came with a new plastic surround, but the driver window did not, so I had to clean off the old set.

OK, question is:  Do I want o put Sikalflex between every layer?

For example, Sikaflex between metal frame and plastic surround, AND between plastic surround and glass pane? Or do I want to use some other type of weather stripping on one/some of the sides? Seems like they had a thin layer of foam like you would use to seal a house window on some sides, but have been a patch by the PO and not from Prevost that way.

There is about a 1/2" space at the top of the glass, between the glass and the bus window frame. This space is covered by the metal exterior trim (screws on), but what should I use to fill that gap? Does it matter?
Thanks for your help!

The current Prevost installation method is to draw a generous bead around the frame and seat the window into that bead. Trim off the excess that gets oozed out after it sets.

Then around the entire perimeter which should be equal all the way around, fill with a bead of Sikaflex. I use masking tape to keep it off the window frame. Smooth the bead around the glass and the frame. If the glass was not masked use a razor to scrape the excess.

FWIW the Sikaflex flows a lot easier if it is a little warm.

Prevost uses Sikaflex. I don't remember which number, but it is in their shop manual under "publications page".

I use the 3M windshield adhesive 3M0693 and the 3M VHB tape it cost a little more than Sikaflex but easier to work for me

I installed the window, but didn't use the VHB tape. I did see some remnants of this type of tape when I removed the original window.

Is it going to be OK without the tape? I used Sikaflex (221 I believe) on all sides.

Which model of the VHB do you use?  They seem to have a lot of different numbers.

Ted-
I got the glass from Plymouth and Brockton in MA. Their website is : http://www.p-b.com/
I believe I spoke with Dennis. They have glass and body panels and probably more stuff.
They were helpful and reasonably priced. I found him through an eBay listing where he had a few things listed.

Dennis has alot of stuff for Prevost, MCI 8&9's and early GM's. I was out there last winter and had to trudge through 4' of snow to get to one of their storage buses. Bought two new Prevost windshields, brand new windshield shades and some body stainless sheet metal replacement pieces. They are local bus company that has been in business for many years. They run MCI now and trollies for the tourist season.
