12 volt ground

Hi folks,

Always interesting topics on the board. I hardly ever have to post because most of my questions get answered sooner or later without me asking! However, I am doing some 12 volt wiring and need to know if  some of the grounds can be put together at one terminal. Or is it better to have seperate grounds for each light, etc., to make future trouble shooting easier?

I ran two wires ( one red and one black ) to each twelve volt fixture I was installing

My thought was if I happened to lose a fixture I could test it at the panel and if the hot wire was ruined or had a screw through it (causing it to become a ground) I could switch the wires and the fixture would still work

I think that way would be less invasive to the interior of the coach

Just my way of handling it.

We ran a ground wire from each 12 volt light/appliance to a common, accessible ground strip which is connected to the house batteries with a large cable. This should make testing much easier if the need arises (have had no problems so far).  Just "our way", YMMV  Jack
