4106 diff oil type

I know what the manual states but is there a better choice with the modern oils since the manual was written?

18pts of S.A.E. 140wt  Multi-purpose gear oil.

I used 140wt gear oil.  It's been fine.  No issues, and I used it year round.  Even brought it up Mont Tremblant twice in the dead of winter.
