Manual or automatic?  Angle drive or T drive? Make and model of coach? You can call a couple of the trasit companies. Many times you can connect with a mechanic there that does work on the side, even the company doesn't want to fool with it.

Rebuilt trans bought off ebay could be a risky adventure.  But you've already bought it an now it's time to get it installed and find out what you ended up with.

WW Williams has a transmission re-manufacturing plant west of Tifton in Columbus, GA.
Might try giving them a call and ask if they can recommend anyone in the Tifton area to do the work for you.
More than likely they know of a customer around there that buys an installs their re-man trans that could do itfor you.

Thanks for all the suggestions :) yea, it was rebuilt by the military Sept. 2011. and was tested comes with dyno sheets and then bolted in a military sealed metal box where it has lived since then. So, we'll see

Found a shop in Tifton that will install trans. Expensive, they say 16 hours labor at $125 per. Plus fluid (Tran-send) $45 per gallon. I guess I'm going get it done next week. I just wonder if I really need to spend that kind of money on fluid?

There is no need for the high $$$ Transynd  in the older Allison they do fine on Dexron or C-4 rated 15/40.
It's your call the installer in your case is not responsible for the rebuild so don't let him tell what oil to use

Lee, back when the original 1960's engine (4-stroke) was in my bus, it was entirely OK to run everything on diesel engine oil.  Engine, transmission, power steering, etc.  The standard for many years for four stroke diesel engines was CG-4 rating (C-Compression ignition, G-type -- they're now up to CI which is especially formulated for diesels with catalysts and aftertreatment -- i.e. no applicable to most of us).  But that CF or CG oil really was good oil and the CG-4 oil now available incorporates technology improvements so it's better than the CG oil of the 1980's.
Of course, the C?-2 rating for DD 2-stroke engines is another discussion in itself.  But I think that Clifford's point is that for most older-technology transmissions, the CF or CG-4 15/40 diesel engine oil is good and the CG-4 oil is still widely available and cheap.

It's a Allison spec but if you live in a freezing area the Dexron may be better for you

Thanks Clifford and Bruce. I live in south GA. but, may go to freezing places sometimes. I'll put the 15w40 in it/ I should have tried it in this trans before to see if it would cure what ails it. ( when warm jumping back and forth between gears and bucking, Harsh shifts, shudder and acting like it's going in and out of gear when backing up. really doesn't act like it's slipping but not right anyway
