Do any here know the 1956 scenic list on SFbay Craigslist it doesn't look that bad for a scenic for 4800 bucks of course it has a rebuilt 8V71. I am not interested in the bus but a friend is, I tried to link it but no work

If that bus moves it would be a bargain for the right buyer.

Woodland is closer to Sacramento than San Francisco.

I agree with Don. Weird that it is not in Sacramento CL or even Reno. Woodland is also close to coach maintenance in Williams, CA. Clifford you might call Ted Campbell (530)473-5544 up there and see if he knows anything about it. He has 2 up there now. He is only 30 minutes north of it.
Looked up the moving company in the yard but it is out of San Jose'

Most of the listing people do list in a larger area I see that all the time a bus listed for sale in Phoenix was actually in Flagstaff

Yes, not a bad price for what you get.
Looks like that one has all the really good parts like the fluted window trim and the correct roof corner marker lights. It even looks to have the original aluminum rear bumper.

Parts aren't that bad to get if you are willing to pay a reasonable price for them. When someone is looking for brand new condition for cheap - then those who do have parts decide to keep them.

As for rust, if the siding isn't pushed out near the washroom & there aren't big holes (>1" diameter)  in the rear airbeams, I doubt there is enough rust to cause any problems.

If the allison is already properly installed, it is an awesome deal, even if you can't drive it as it sits.

If one thinks the asking price is too much, an old classic probably ain't for you.   ;)

QuoteComes with rebuilt engine 8V71 and 4 speed Allison transmission

Does this mean it's not installed? The listing in the top right says it has a manual transmission.

Did any of these come with a 4 speed manual?I was thinking that the standard on these things was an 8 speed.

The easy, short answer is yes they came with a 4 speed transmission.

The long answer is when they were switched from the two 471 engines coupled together to the 8V71 a 4 speed transmission was installed.  This was done to all of the Scenicruisers somewhere around 1958-59 I think. I may have the years incorrect.
