Had a little scare this week. Our Onan QD7500 shut down 20 seconds after start up throwing a low oil pressure code (blink blink, pause blink blink, pause). I installed a gauge temporarily and its got 60 psi of oil pressure and runs fine. So I will install a new sending unit.

But as long as I have the enclosure off I think I will install water temp and oil pressure gauges and mount them to the cabinet.

I'll put a "T" on the engine and install a mechanical oil pressure gauge along with the electric oil pressure sender. My question is can I attach an electric water temperature gauge to the existing water temperature sending unit or will that confuse the Onan computer? A little harder to "T" off of that thermostat housing on the engine.

I don't think it'll work for the water temp gauge because you can purchase a "dual" water temp sending unit for most generators.  The dual sending unit is designed for using two water gauges.  A water temp gauge uses the resistance in the sending unit to measure the temp.  Adding a second gauge will give a false value.
