My bus isn't nice enough to attract the uninformed. But I recall one time I was stopped for fuel near Indianapolis and a fellow came up and
started asking questions and I believe I gave him a tour, though there wasn't much in there at the time. I believe he now owns an MC5 and
is a member on this board.

Guess I showed him!

I often offer people the chance to step in on the stairs and look around.  To me, part of the fun of having a bus conversion is talking to people about it--even the ones who start off by saying "I have an uncle who has one just like it"  Now I will admit that I keep an empty 9mm 100 round ammo box on the counter as a catchall which may help improve my guest's and my ability to behave in a civilized fashion.  Jack

hi All, not only did I get people asking to see inside on my 5A , but some want to take pictures, (and the more unsophisticated ask how much did it cost) some ask where do I find out more about bus conversions, then again, some ask for gas money too! lvmci...

If my wife is traveling with me I find any excuse, she really doesn't like strangers 'touring' her abode, but jr and I are a little more relaxed about it. I try to be polite if it isn't a good time.

Over the years we have been put on the spot like that and it is our opinion we would not make a wise choice if we allowed someone we don't know to knock on the door and ask to get a tour of our house, so we opt to not allow strangers to tour our coach for the same reason.

However, the exception is another bus owner or folks at a rally.

A polite refusal, referencing that it is my house on wheels and, as I am in travel mode, the interior is a bit of a mess and not in a presentable condition, but thanks for the interest...

Busnuts, you can have both a polite game face as well as being VERY aware that you are a potential target without letting on. The difference is. That you don't unnecessarily offend the genuinely interested future bus conversion enthusiast.

When I was filling up a while ago (when diesel was still almost $4  -  hrumph), someone asked me about my solar panel support frames on the roof.   I told him I intended to get all my power from the sun  -  it never dawned on me that I should have specified ELECTRICAL power.   He then asked how far it goes on a charge, so at that point I knew there wasn't any meeting of minds.   I BSed him with some utter codswallop about how Crown had made a solar-powered bus, expecting him to tell me I was pulling one of his lower limbs, but no, he still kept asking me about solar-powered buses.   I think when he asked me how far it could go from its charging station, and I told him 93 million miles, that he finally realized I was not talking about what he wanted to hear.   Fun!

The other RVers in the yard where I store and work on my bus are often wanting to see what I've done so far, but because I haven't even started on the interior yet they think I've just been goofing off for the last six years I've had the bus.   They have no clue about how damn long it takes to do even the seemingly-simplest of jobs  -  it took me two full days just to pull some armored 10/2 cable through under the bus for my shore and generator feeds, so any eventual completion is still a long way off in the future.   And then today I was hoping to see an interesting documentary on TV about Superb Owls, but it just had a load of guys in tights running around a field  -  what a waste of potential bus-conversion time.

Why do they all have to stop and take a breather every four seconds?   Are they that unfit?   Perhaps they've all been hit on their heads too many times for them to remember their own names  -  is that why they have their names written on their backs?   And why are the coaches engaged in their own Competetive Chewing event  -  are they sponsored by Wrigleys?   And I could have pulled through some more cable this afternoon had I known what this Superb Owl thing was all about.
