Hi all  A quick question, does anybody know of a electronic regulator for a 12 volt DN50 alternator, that will last? I have been using a Transpo V1200 regulator and have replaced 2 with another bad also 1 Balmar ARS-5. I think the amp output of these regulators is marginal at best. What is the rotor draw on a DN50? I don't want a 3 stage as I run the gen most of the time on the road so the new Balmar MC-614 is a little expensive for what I need. Thanks for the help  olebusman

Have you tried a Delco 50VR?  It's the regulator designed for the 50DN.

Everyone's set up is different.  I have a magnum 4024 that my generator runs while on the road.  I had (the operative word here is had) an isolator in the system and had to replace the regulator a couple of times.  I went to a solenoid set up that I control with switches from the dash and I have not had any recent issues (knock on wood) with my regulator. I think that some types of electronics don't play well together and with each bus being set up differently it is hard to guess exactly what causes problems.

YMMV

Brian  I think the delco regulator is just 24 volts???
Melbo, I have a solenoid (big boy) for my system which has worked great. Just the regulators say they are good for 8 amps on the field terminal which I think is marginal. The balmar mc-614 says it is good for 15 amps on the field bot it is $300.00 and I don't need a 3 stage. Can't seem to find something to work.  olebusman

There are two models of the current 50VR, it's the same model name for both but different part numbers.
