Hi I am making some progress on my 1993 mci 102c3 conversion project thanks largely to the help.for this forum!  I am now to the point of framing my ceiling and need some input.  I did not raise the roof so I don't want to lower it too much.  I had originally planned to attach ripped down 2x4 to the original roof spars and just square them off a bit then attach pine toung and groove but am concerned because the roof supports are 58" on center so not sure if it will sag or be under supported.  Can I attach plywood directly to the roof supports or will I have problems with condensation?   I see alot of converters make a lowered ceiling with 1" square steel or the like but seems like alot of time and money for what I am trying to achieve.   Any suggestions would be appreciated or pics of what you have done on your own conversion.   Thanks in advance.

Screw 1x3 Apitong (like the slats that are installed in truck bodies) length wise then just glue or screw the outer skin to that. Easy and can be disassembled if need be. Good Luck, TomC

Hi Tyson,

Tom has a good idea that will work!

As far as insulation, if you are making a closed cell type gap between your ceiling and roof then
don't worry about condensation. Just fill the entire area with insulation/foam or whatever. If not,
and you end up lowering your ceiling, then keep most of insulation just above your ceiling and not
your roof. This will keep heated/cooled air away from a hot or cold roof.

I lowered my ceiling in my 102C3 4". I used 1/2 x 1 1/2 steel hat channel and welded it on 24" centers.
I utilized the space for all my electrical and HVAC ducts.
