I was just looking at diesel prices and I see Texas has diesel for $2.29 or less per gallon.  That is what we pay for gasoline here in Minnesota!  The cheapest diesel up here is $3.19 at three stations and then the prices jump to $3.49 or more at the rest of the stations.

I would be planning a bus trip somewhere if I could get diesel for $2.29 a gallon.  I'm hoping diesel is still comparatively cheap by next fall, but not planning on it.

Take a look at http://www.texasgasprices.com/index.aspx?fuel=D  I guess it is only a few stations that are really cheap, but $2.49 is still a full dollar less than most stations in Minnesota.

Brian - It is because the oil companies in Texas are happy to lose money on each gallon they sell because they're such good guys.  The oil companies in MN are just breaking even, and with a tiny profit margin.  It's not like they're ever going to soak you for everything that they can squeeze out of you -- no, no, they'd never do that!  Yeah, it's because the oil companies in TX are just such sweet people, they're giving it away.  Right ...

</sarcasm mode -- off>  The MN oil companies know that they can do it, so they just shove it to you.  They can do it and you can't do anything about it so they do it.

Jerry, they're pretty good about posting prices in NC.  I'd guess that 70-80% of the stations that have diesel post the price on a sign you can see from the road.  Today, I saw diesel for $2.75 - and that's in tax-happy NC.

I filled up for winter with the good stuff @ $3.75 a gallon. Seems my bus doesn't like the cheap fuel. Lol
