Tom ours is only 7KW and it runs everything we need to include the heater and coffee pot, both AC's in the summer, computers etc.  Someday I may even put the inverter in. It looks nice in the bay just not hooked up. We will be a noisy bunch with all the noise makers going.

RJ, which way are you going? 99, 210, 10 or Bakersfield 58, 40 cal 95? and which is less steep grades? Grapevine is what 4100?

Dave -

After 7500 miles in my 5C since Nov 17, going over the Rockies, Tehachapis, Siskiyous and Cascades, a grade is a grade is a grade.  If it's 6%, you're going to be doing 30 mph.  So that becomes a moot point.

It's roughly 25 miles further to take 58/40/95, but you don't have to deal with the heavier traffic on the other route.  Depending on the time of day on the S side of the Grapevine, that route could be 30+ minutes faster, or several hours longer.  Crapshoot.

Altho Google Maps says the 99/210/10 route is 471 miles and about 7 hours, that's auto travel times.  In the Tortoise it translates to 9.5 hours, thus plan accordingly.  (I've averaged 53 mph over the above 7500 miles, so I just use 50 mph for planning purposes - which, BTW, Greyhound also uses when putting together their line-haul schedules.)

There may be a change in my schedule, and I won't be able to leave until the 15th, but it's not set in stone yet.

I still have a couple issues to be worked out regarding house systems, too.

Is Sweet Darlene's restaurant still in Q? (Out the frontage road east of Q on north side of freeway)  If so, the best "sticky-buns" around.  And, good inexpensive food too.
