Hi All,

Im looking for a new air filter for the MCI-9, and I know somebody out there has the parts number. Also, is this a generic filter that I could find easier than going though MCI? I want to avoid the stealership if possible.

Try a CA596 fram, works perfect in mine

And that's still the oil bath set up with this Fram?

No mine is an all dry element system, what year do you have there.
I would have to look into that a bit if its different. In most oil bath type systems you just replace the oil in the lower section "normally".

Its probably a good idea to go factory / oem and not skimp on this, there are some search post about this and the 8v71 motor A very good read for us all.

Right, I did want to go with the OEM setup, with the oil bath and all. I havent dug into the air filter assembly yet, but Im about to. Hopefully its just a change of oil that's needed. By the way, its an 1983 MCI-9.

Even on the gigantic off road mining trucks, dry paper type air cleaners are used. I would suggest changing yours to dry paper type. The filtering on paper is better than oil. You can buy an entire air cleaner assembly for just a few hundred. Good Luck, TomC
