Clifford,

Thanks for pointing that out.

I had a exhaust flow check done on mine to make sure it flowed correctly and they need a bit of back pressure too according to DD in Portland.

That's why we can't just install any old muffler. I often wonder when the guys say they run straight pipes what might happen to the valves when they shut down.

When I am not going to use mine for awhile, I plug the exhaust pipe. Just my way. I have never forgotten to unplug it but when I do it will probably just blow out the plug.

I have a big ECCO air filter. I forget the model number, but it flows lots of air, like 1800 cfm IIRC. It actually only smokes if lugged, like if I give it too much fuel for the conditions. And that is only caused by the driver. Given a big enough air filter, the engine still only gets only as much air as the turbo and the blower push into the air box. Maximum air intake happens at maximum rpm when the blower spins the fastest, and at full load, when the turbo also spins the fastest. It does not smoke if driven properly. The throttle delay is in my right foot. Any diesel engine will smoke if you give it too much fuel, except the modern electronic ones where the ECM meters the fuel to match air intake and other conditions. If mine smokes a little, at least I know it is getting as much fuel as it will burn. So I waste a little out the pipe once in a while...
