Just wonder why he's pulling the 6V-92TA? It is a good bus engine and good for travelling. Granted, it doesn't get the fuel mileage of a good 4 stroke engine, but it is reliable and will give many years of faithful service. The 6V-92TA is one of the 2 stroke engines that are still being made for the military (along with 6V-53TI, 8V-92TA, 8V-71TA). Good Luck, TomC

Eagle owners have this thing about replacing a 6v92 with series 60,Cat or Cummins even some with the Mack V8 if wasn't so easy they would stick with 6v92 ::) I even saw one with a 903 Cummins

I will ask him for more info..

he is a military guy and the 6v92 does not have the power he wants.. so he wants to drop in a HUGE cummins

If he wants big, go with the Cummins ISX (not as tall as the NTC/N14 block). This engine has an RV rating of 650hp and 1950lb/ft torque-which ironically is the highest approved power rating of the B500 Allison. Good Luck, TomC

LOL they forget they have the drop box on a Eagle and the gearing is very limited Davenport worked around that part by using a drop box Allison 4000 series with a truck rear axle after he used up all my drop boxes ::) the 650 hp series 60 ate those boxes  fwiw the boxes are not going to handle 1950 ft lbs very long

My view on value of any DDC Engine can not be determined until you remove air box covers, pan, and blower, other wise it is only core value. about $1,500.00

The miter box in that bus will only work on V6 engine just in case you guys with a V8 are looking for a miter box

what is a miter box and what does it do?

luvrbus

A mitre drives the fan, alternator and Ac compressor on older Eagles your 89 model could be different and use the hyd fan setup
