Yeah, I would be very concerned if I had a conversion and had Progressive.  If you did it online and never talked with a rep, I would be even more concerned.

That said, I just got off the phone with National General though Good Sam and I have my policy as well as a full Good Sam membership with roadside.  Is there any benefit to having Coach Net's roadside as well as the Good Sam?

This is interesting...  I just switched to Progressive because state farms underwriter kept insuring mine as an RV.  When I signed up for progressive they specifically asked if it was a bus conversion and I told them yes.  They asked if it was livable (bathroom, water, kitchen...etc) and I said yes and explained that we lived and traveled in it full time.  They then offered me full timers insurance coverage in addition to regular coverage.  At no time did they ever ask if it was at one point a seated coach.

Do they know that your bus was once a seated bus?  See that is the sticking point here.  If they find out that it was a seated bus at any point it it's life, the person I talked to said they will deny any claim made against it.  If it is a bus that never had seats and went right to a professional conversion plant, that is just fine with them.  We all know that there is zero difference between the two, well actually our bus conversions are much better than the crap diesel pushers that old people pay 200K for, but Progressive thinks, that a 90 year old guy driving a $200K pusher with a SUV behind it, which has a Hoverround hanging off the back of it, because he can't get around Walmart without it and his oxygen bottle; 1500 miles down and back on 95 every 6 months is MUCH less of a risk than someone who has taken a bus that was built like a Sherman tank and restored and converted it into something that everyone wishes they could have.  Go figure.

??? the difference is the old people have the 200,000 to buy what they want and don't have enough time left in life to spend years doing a rehab on a old bus. It's unfair you bashing old people because a insurance co pissed you off IMO

You are covered just that the agreed value is not worth the paper it's written on that is why I dropped it states very clearly the claim will be paid per market value at the time of claim as per the adjuster

I never used mine a friend did when his Eagle burn the agreed valve was 127 grand they tried to pay him 30 grand that is still in court.

Then another friend when his bus was totaled National Interstate paid the agreed value no questions asked that is when I changed you never know what coverage you have till you need it  ;D

Wisest words ever typed on this forum.

They've always cashed my cheque but occasionally when it came time to pay out we've had words.

I am not trying to start a peeing contest....but everyday on these boards everyone claims that coach prices are in the tank....not a single person has said they agree that a coach is worth 127K$ unless it is under 6 years old.... that ain't happening with an Eagle. I know progressive asks you to be realistic when you set your price. and I know that I have been with them 10 years. And I know that they review your value. How then can you convince them that your rig has not depreciated... just sayin. mine is probably covered for $35K now,was maybe 60K 10 years ago.....and I actually think it's pretty fair and the rig pretty nice.

They never charged him less of a premium never told him he needed a new appraisal never said anything he paid 385k for his  Eagle that was their starting point and 2 years before the fire they had a agreement of 127k then the market just kept falling

He is not pissed about the 127k he kinda knew that would not happen the 30k is what pissed him off and I can assure you his 1990 Monoco conversion was worth a lot more than 30k at the time, they sell today for more than that now if you can find one, he has been with Progressive for over 15 years with different buses fwiw

They made him a offer in July for 65 k to settle and he said no after 3 years of lawyers he said they can pay the agreed amount now he's not going away  ;D

We have National General and have had it for many years.  The last bus was insured with liability only.  That's easy to get.  On this one, they said they would do collision if I had it appraised, which we did.
You don't have to believe everything you think.

Is National General the old GMAC insurance ?

Is National General the old GMAC insurance ?
We had GMAC which changed 2 or 3 years ago to National General. Their rates are great. We pay just over $700 annual for full timers/full coverage. BUT we are currently going through a hail claim from July 7TH and still have no idea when they will settle. Included in the claim was our brand new car and our 6X12 cargo trailer. All I can say is... National General is a Circus and I have talked to every Clown there. They have to hire independent appraisers, (none in Colorado). The prices from them are far from reality. The damage to our car was underestimated by close to 30%. They didn't search for used comps on our trailer. The comps they tried to use were cheap new ones. I had to find the comps myself. IT TOOK APPROX 4 MINUTES of Google to find used, same year, same size, same model, sold this year comps. The used ones sold for 33% more than their "new" comps. The current equivelent trailer sells for TWICE the amount of their comps.
Our bus is the next fight. So far all they seem to be concerned about is whether or not a previous hail claim was repaired. (It was repaired by me). I submitted a copy of my Oregon title which is branded from that incident as "Totaled" It was inspected by the State of Oregon and deemed "Reconstructed". The new title has both terms on it. Their only focus seems to be on proving that I'm trying to commit fraud. They have sent 2 guys over taking pictures, they have hired 2 different people to try and estimate it's worth. They have now hired someone to go over and compare the old pictures to the new ones. I had to get and send everything from the previous Progressive claim, pictures and all.
Our car was parked 4 FEET away and got 4K worth of hail damage, our trailer was parked 12 FEET away and was totaled, Yet they are worried about whether one or two dents are left from before.
Our trailer has so many hail dents that you couldn't place a dollar bill anywhere without touching several hail dents.
As bad as this current, (nearly 8 weeks old), deal is... the Progressive claim 5 years ago was much worse.

Like someone else said... You'll find out what kind of coverage you have when you make a claim...
