A company representative for a planned biodiesel plant was being interviewed by a radio commentator in Alberta last week. After he had told all the advantages of using a renewable fuel he was asked if it really was an energy positive program if you factored in all the input energy such as the energy used to make the fertilizer and the fuel used by the farmer and the energy used to refiine it.

The rep tried to talk his way around the question but finally said that at todays cost  of canola it was financially viable.

Read that to mean that when the cost of the grain goes up, a government subsidy will be justiified since this is saving the world from global warming.
