New Trails Manufacturing

Hey All - I am trying to do some research on my bus...mostly for insurance purposes.

Ive attached a picture of our vehicle plate with the Vin number. (The insurance company is telling me the VIN is from a 1984 Fleetwood Southwind Eagle)

Im trying to find out if anyone has any information at all on New Trails Manufacturing.  Where did they come from...where did they go...

Vin Number if you cannot see the plate is 1ESCN6A18EB050039

Let me know if any of those numbers should be letters or vice versa.

That Vin is legit Eagle was New Trails Manufacturing for a short period in the 80's most of the Eagles built at the Harlingen plant like yours were New Trails a few model 10's from the Brownsville were also, your insurance company is screwed up.

Dan and some other x Eagle employees are hanging out on the Sliver Eagle Owners group on FB they were there and can give you the low down

It is astounding how easy it is to re-register a vehicle a vehicle as a completely different year, make and model.  The insurance company saying the VIN belongs to a 1984 Fleetwood Southwind Eagle was likely caused by a previous owner calling it an "1984 Eagle RV" when registering it and clerk filling in the paperwork with best guess information.  This is a PDF of the Eagle product records pulled from the Eagles International Forum.  If you scroll down to the last page of that document, you will see: Model 10-S VIN 50037-50038, 1984, Fleet 375-375, 88 Transit Lines.  It may be coincidence, but the last 5 digits of your VIN number are 50039-- only one number greater.  It is possible that your bus either sold directly to New Trails Manufacturing or to a bus company like 88 Transit Lines, then to New Trails Manufacturing where it was then converted or remanufactured, then assigned a new VIN number.  I have never heard of New Trails Manufacturing.  If I had to guess, they probably remanufactured a small number of buses before going out of business.  There is literally no mention of New Trails Manufacturing on the internet out side of this thread and the repost on Eagles International that I could find.

I went through this process without much help on my bus-- it can be very frustrating.  Look for as many clues as possible.  Search every cabinet, cubby, and seat pocket for things like expired insurance documents, repair receipts with date and VIN, and towing bills.  Every link helps.

This is the registration history of my bus:
1970 Eagle 05 SE VIN 8167

1979 Eagle Model 301 MH VIN 8130110

Most of the changes were simple human error and best guess substitutions.  One of the changes was the result of an estate sale when the bus was included with the property. The address stayed the same, but the owners name and the VIN number changed.  Sorry for making this post long winded-- just an example of what happens all the time.

There are not that many Eagles that end with (39) and only one in 1984 that end in (39):

Oh,I believe you and I am certain that not all records are on the yahoo site.
And perhaps the Harlingen plant had a numbering system all their own...
that said, the guys on the eagle board (Daniel Lenz ? ) has more stuff in his head than me, my knowledge of eagle history would fill a thimble...

Nether of those sites are real accurate both are kinda hit and miss Dan has a accurate list and I have about 6000 build sheets from the factory problem with those most just have the frame number and the owners name no vin numbers, lol I have a stack of the Eagles point of origin manufactures certificates but they are all blank damn it

Ive looked over all those production record before and havent found anything specific to my bus.  The closest thing is the record that ends at 50038.  One short of my bus. 

Ive got the following decal ghosts on my bays...

BTM - Orlando FL
Fullington Autobus Company - Clearfield PA

BTM is A charter bus company in Orlando.  No idea what fullington is other than what it says.

Has anyone out there worked for either of these companies or know someone who does?  It would be interesting to see what type of records they have.  Unless the bay doors were not original
