Hi All, just got back from the gates belt dealer and off the phone with MCI parts and tech support, looking for the main fan belt for the radiator squirrel cage fans, the gates dealer had something to wide and another to thin, she measured the pulleys and length and came up with 113.6 inches, this an old stretched fan belt, from the engine to the mitre pulley for the squirrel cage fans. What was in the book was 114", 7/8" or 5/8" top width, she measured the width of the existing belt as 3/4". I called mci tech support, thinking such a belt wouldnt be available in parts anymore,  he said most of the figures werent available any more! So against his advice I called parts, lo and behold, parts had 11 of them! Two lengths, 111"s and 109"s mci part #8B-27-2 for the hundred eleven incher, $56 plus $30 handling and shipping! So the proper length is one hundred and eleven inches, part #8B-27-2, from mci, lvmci...

No experience with the MC5, just the MC7, but one of the first things I did when still had the two radiators and the squirrel cage fans, was to order from MCi, the smaller pulley for the mitre box and a shorter belt that went with it, that did make some improvement, the other improvement I found was the later MC7's had a different routing of the coolent hoses from the thermostat housings, my earlier model joined the two hoses directly into the center box on top between the two radiators, the later models used hose from thermostat housing to a radiator with a small balance tube between the two radiators, this made each radiator do its job, where the early models with the common center junction, made the driver side radiator do the majority of the cooling as it had the shortest route to the water pump meaning the curb side did not pass nearly enough water and was less useful. Found that was also a big improvement.  In the end, I removed all that crap, installed two large paper air filters in that area and installed a 4' X 5' radiator across the rear and installed a 48" pusher fan for the 12V-71, so pushed the hot air out the back.

Dave, I sure do like that idea of the radiator all the way across the rear door location, did it have overheating issues after you installed the new radiator? How many rows of cores did you put on the radiator, did it swing out to get access to the engine? Any pictures? Lvmci...

Concerning the rear mounted radiator on the MC7, that is an interesting question.  If I had stayed with the 8V-71, I am certain it would have been a biggie improvement, however the reasons were first needed more radiator for the 12V, and the space where the original radiator had been, now became the air filter (2) with a 6" tee down to the air intake.
That worked fine except on hot days on the interstate mountains running the 75ish.  The sprayer setup helped that and with the 600+ HP 8V-92, that needed more frequently, never on the flat land but showing the "Hot trucks the  route to the top of mountain" did use some sprayer fluid.
As have said, the most fun ever had with my clothes on. 
Just a hot rod having fun, and the biggest kick was the guy with the new Cat 460 HP w/empty aluminum flatbed on mountain, I was testing the 12V when he  & I had a chance for him to impress that old bus, when he asked what the h#ll I had in that thing, told him it was a wore out 318, his response is not printable. ;D  By the time he got to the top of the mountain, I was gone.
