I need to safely remove Imron paint from the annodized aluminum panels on my bus. I have tried numerous over the counter removers but nothing yet seems to work very well. Has anyone else done this? What products did you use? Thanks.

Stop in at a body shop supplier.  They carry good liquid paint stripper.  Aircraft paint stripper is a good choice.

Tip:  be sure to paint in on using only one brush stroke-- ie one direction and one pass only.  If you make multiple strokes like you are painting it looses some of its effectiveness.   When the stuff is exposed to air it forms a 'vapor barrier' that helps it work.  You break it with successive brush strokes.

Then use a plastic putty knife to scrape the paint goo off.  Wipe it off the putty knife onto old newspapers.  Keep a rag with acetone handy to clean up after scraping a small area.  Wear gloves!  Be patient and allow time for the stuff to soften the paint.

I stripped my 06 using "Aircraft Stripper". It took a couple of weeks of hitting it every day. I quit counting rivets at 10,000. I found the biggest help was the temperature. If I applied the stripper below 60*F it was pretty much a waste.

Hobie,  It sounds like you have done this before!  Get heavy duty gloves, those cheap ones will melt in the stripper.  I keep a bucket of water and a wet rag to get the spatters off my skin.  It burns.  Nylon pads will help with getting the last film off. Wipe with the grain of the siding. The semi gel products are a lot easier to use if you have a choice.  Give it enough time to work before scraping.

Then find some OTHER dummy to repaint it.  Its a lot of work!!>>>Dan
