Electrical Wiring, Front to back, 6v92 Mech...what do I need?

I am currently looking at rewiring my electrical box up front.  What I am asking for is what are the wires that I should isolate before I start tearing everything out to redo?  To clarify - I know that in this mess there are a pair of wires for the Jakes and if I pull those I won't have Jake's so I marked them and will isolate them as I rebuild this.  Are there any other control/lighting/gauge wires that I should be on the lookout for that are pertenant to me driving my bus that I need to isolate before I start pulling?  Feel free to list anything you can think of.

I do have a photocopy of the manual but the image is really small to make anything out. Also it looks like some of the wires were re-arranged before the bus arrived in my hands. 

I'd really like to get this cleaned up so I can rebuild the drivers area inside and insullate everything up there.  I'm in no hurry though and we are fulltiming so I need to make sure I leave what I need to drive the bus in place.  Thanks guys!

I've done this.
It is not difficult, but time consuming.
Do you have the electrical diagrams for your Eagle?
You will need all of them! Not just one page.
Each wire should be numbered everywhere it makes a connection.
The connector should be numbered also.
Order several books of peel off numbers of good quality.
Number each end of each wire.
Make a list of the numbers 1- 190 or so and write what that wire does on your coach.
Keep the original number whereever possible.
It is slow going but the information will be invaluable to you and any future owner.
In the future, if you have any electrical problem, refer to your list and you will know what the wire is.
You will also be able to eliminate many of the wires.
lavatory light and door lock
reading lights
exit signs
aisle markers
you get the picture.

Even better for marking labels permanently is a Dymo label maker that prints on heat shrink.  Whenever I do any work on a factory wire that I know the wire number for I make a heat shrink label for it.  Not super cheap, but worth it to me.  They will never peel off, but they could get dirty.

I would buy very high quality AMP ends and an AMP crimp tool, pricey but professional.  I like the ends that have heat-shrink insulation lately.  I'm not sure what you are actually planning to do - actually replace the wiring harness, or just clean up the wiring placement in the bay?  Are you going to cut out the wires that aren't needed but leave them in the actual wrapped harness?

Eagle owners ? on a Eagle are the wires color coded by voltage like on a prevost? I find this helps out allot on unknown wires. Example: 24volt=red 12volt=yellow  black=ground  Just curious--I think I might have found a late model eagle to add to the shop.. I'm not going to build another busx10.. Sure is pretty though!  Bob

His Eagle is 12 volt only Bob, the NJT model 20's were the only Eagles with a 12/24 volt system but get this while the wires were numbered they were all white in color why any one would order a bus with one color of wire is beyond me  :P  

Sean just need to a little house keeping and cleanup a lot of those wires are not Eagle wiring where those go to Sean is going to have fun he will be buying a tone generator to keep his sanity, just tidy it up and make a cover of clear plastic and it will be a showcase that panel does not look all that bad 

I wonder what the back panel looks like I bet he finds some of the non Eagle wiring back there from the front panel

Another thought on ripping them out.  Someday, you will want a wire that goes from there to someplace.  It is really handy if you all ready have one. We have used a lot of obsolete wires for other purposes. That's a lot easier than trying to pull a new wire from one end of the bus to the other end. Document and label every wire, its use and where it goes to.

Hi Sean,
I did not change any of the wires that were needed for the bus operation, they are all still original and connected to the proper locations. The rear panel is the same way. The wiring that was removed was for the bus HVAC that did not work. The jakes were not a part of the original bus so I did use some of the wires removed for that connection. The red wires in the photo are for the leveing jacks. The connectors and circuit breakers still had the numbers on them and should follow the book. Remember also that not only do you have the wiring diagrams but in the service manual it steps you through each circuit's connectors and breakers front and rear.
If I can help I will try to remember all that I can. My CRS does tend to kick in sometimes.

Hi Sean, the MCI has metal crimped labels, with numbers stamped on them, an old way of labeing wires that are still on the wires today! Engineers at tv stations, use a plastic labeling system that wraps around the wire as a flag or length wise, available at electronic stores, like frys. When used in remote trucks it is then wrapped in clear heat shrink tubing to last even longer, lvmci...

Hey guys - thanks for all the help.  Here is what I am looking at today-




This all started when wifey bugged me for curtains.  My idea is a curtain wire around the front but in order to hang the end points for the curtain wire I have to get the walls up in the front around the drivers side and entry side of the bus.  In order to get the walls up I have to rewire what's exisitng.  And here I am.  Wifey comes back tomorrow.  Hopefully most of this will be sorted out by then. :-/

LOL, I feel for you buddy. Good for you for working on it. I have never tackled ours, because it looks like such a HUGE task. Keep on pushing, and you will get there.

As you look at the wires while in the driver seat. follow them through the left wall into the side electrical panel.
They should have numbers where they connect.
That will tell you what they do. The same number should be on the other end at the light, gauge, horn, or whatever it goes to.
There will be many # 78. It is used for the dash lights on most of the gauges. The black ones are grounds and will tie into one wire
somewhere back towards the panel.
You might want to get a couple of rolls of 14gauge wire in each color in case you want to replace any. get good quality connectors
also and a good crimping tool. You will need more red and black wire than any other.

Do not use your original copy of the wiring diagram!
Take all the electrical system foldouts to Kinkos or someplace and make a couple of copies of them.
Use the copies. I assure you, they will look well used when you are through.

I have all the wiring list for you but it is in a spread sheet and I am too ignorant to convert it to word.

I can print it OK, just cannot copy to here.

If someone will tell me how to do that, I will post it.
