a while back there was a discussion about the new cummins V8 engine, (over 300hp and 500 ft lbs tq)I see where Nissan is going to bring back the titan truck to put it in. The article does not say which transmission they will use does anyone know what trans they are looking at.

Thanks

Don

I believe it will be the Aisin automatic (much like the Allison). But-they could change. Good Luck, TomC

Excellent answers already given.  Probably some sort of electronial automatic, plus a choice of several medium-smaller automotive 5-6 speed manuals.

If I were King Of The World, I would just turn my engineers loose and design, make and use a baby 10 speed "Road Ranger" type MANUAL tranny.  HB of CJ (old coot)

Then also engineer and use a real "Jake Brake" onto or into the engine.  Just me. I mean; what good is that Commins engine if it....doesn't have a 10 speed and Jake?  :) :) :)

I believe Chevrolet is coming out with a 10 speed auto with gas engine in near future pickup

Clifford, do those marine 14 liters have the compact valve train or old 12.7 style? I may have ask you before but I forgot.

When it might be easier, (but so much less cool...or sensible) to just use the tried and trued RTO 6610 baby Fuller 10 speed Road Ranger?  Maybe update to an aluminiumumumm case?  Alloy bell housings are already available, but will have to be newly manufactured.

Yes it is big, long and wide, but it is not that tall.  The tranny alone with a cast iron case went in at about only 360 pounds.  A bunch could be removed using aluminum.  It might also be possible to $cheapen$ that Road Ranger to be more compatible with a pickup platform.  Just me.  Ignore that man.  HB of CJ (old coot) :) :) :)

If pickup customers were interested in a 10spd manual, don't you think the manufacturers would be making one? The bottom line is the vast majority (including me after 1.3 million miles of driving a 13spd) in the U.S. want automatic. This is why so much time and money is being spent on the 8, 9, 10spd automatics. I don't know anyone-except a real die hard truckee person-who would won't a dinosaur 10spd Roadranger to drive everyday in their pickup. We are the only country still making multiple gear crash (non synchronized) transmissions in the 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, 18spd range. Good Luck, TomC

The 1/2 ton class of trucks that this diesel is intended for don't even have manual transmissions as an option today.  They all come with automatic only.  I have my doubts that a manual transmission will be available with a diesel engine.
