Saw this running through my home town Saturday.  Heading south on U.S 281 toward Corpus Christi.  I took this with my phone as I caught up to it on the road.

I zoomed in on the picture and found this printed on the back of the bus.

Boy, there was a lot of stuff piled up on the roof of that rig.

RJ

That rig started life as an AM General transit bus.

V-drive like a GM.

Transit property I worked at had some before I got there - older technicians said they were an electrical nightmare.  The property got permission from the Feds to "retire" them before the 12-year minimum - they were gone in five, all scrapped.

Surprising to see one still on the road (TomC's being an exception!)

Great story David!

That AMG looks exactly like my old Western Flyer.

What adventures they must have had!

Play around on their website. It's interesting.

That's a 96" wide. I haven't had any electrical problems (knock on wood). Although I have rebuilt the bus mechanically. Good Luck, TomC

My 102B40 AMGeneral is the same as the D800 Western Flyer. Except-the Western Flyer used an inline T drive and AMGeneral used a V drive that most everyone else was using in the country in the late 70's. Good Luck, TomC

Great story on their website!  The bus looks like its seen better days if you look at some of the gallery pics but overall I'm happy for them to be following their inspiration of Clowning! Nice find!  :D
