24V light bulbs

I have a chance to purchase boxes of ten  24V bulbs they are 1156, 1157, and 194 I believe and two different candle power I thin 8 cp and 15 cp if anybody interested let me know it looks like around 10.00 a box or less depends on how many I can buy

1156, 1157 and 194 bulbs aren't 24V. They are Standard 12V automotive application.

1156 are a single element, single pole with ground for tail lights or other app.

1157 are a dual element, dual pole with ground for stop/tail light combination or turn signal/parking light application.

194 is a dash board lamp.

If there is a "A" on them, they are amber coated.

Don't let whoever you are buying them from cheat you.

I believe they are made in China and the guy put tags on them of the 1156 & 1157 and yes the 194's are dash light bulbs I think this is why so cheap I think I can get them at around 5.00 a box and I brought one of each home and applied 24 volt and they just like my bulbs I paid 16.00 apiece for had to have them to put on mag lights and all I could find.

Hi Larry,

The 24V equivalents to the bulbs you were looking at are 1683,1638,1662,1450,400,656 &623. These are the most popular MCI & Prevost 24v bulbs.

Do NOT use a 12 volt bulb to replace a 24 volt!  I assumed my dash lighting was 12 volt.  I took a bulb out frrom the dash and over to the auto parts store.  They gave me a bulb that matched in 12 volt.

I installed that bulb in my dash and when I turned on the headlights, the dimmer rheostat got really hot, started smoking, and probably would have gone up in flames if I hadn't cut the power right away.  My dad and I couldn't figure out why the rhoestat was burning up and finally measured the voltage as 24 volts instead of 12 volts.  We removed teh 12 volt bulb and the problems went away.  I got a batch of the correct 24 volt bulbs from a bus place and tossed the 12 volt one.
