You may like Fall Creek Falls State Park. It's a bit more of a resort.

Another good choice for cooling off would be Indian Boundary off the Cherohala Skyway. Our fav time for running the Cherohala is in the Fall (leaf peeping) and winter (snows there due to altitude of 5K when no place else sees snow). It's not as twisty as it appears on the map. You are running the ridgetops most of the time. But it could just be my impression since I kinda grew up in the area and learned to drive on those roads.
