Front Hubs, removing oil.

Does anyone think they could remove over 1 1/2 quart of oil from the front hubs (2) using a turkey baster as a vaccum pump thru the small hole in the cover after removing the rubber plug ?  
I said no way, but was told I was wrong. Guess I must be from Mo. ? Show me.

I guess anything is possible, but how do you get the turkey baster past the nut and outer bearing?

Is there really that much oil in there? I don't recall ever putting that much in.

 You had better check that amount again,, only about 1/2 quart in the average hub.>>>Dan If its a standard "Stemco" hub cover,, it will have a hex plug on one side for draining without removing it, just rotate the wheel to position the drain plug at the bottom and let it drain out into a pan)

Not many of Stemco hub caps have drain plugs now days just loosen the bolts and drain is the way I do it 

I have saw people use brake fluid bulbs or a mighty vac to change the oil so I would say a turkey baster would work I never saw a hub hold a quart and a half before

Drain plug type stemco's are available at most NAPA stores,, about eight bucks.>>>Dan (I would not have it any other way)

I just pulled the covers off and let it make a mess. The stuff stinks so bad. For weeks. Ugh.

Dan,all buses are not GM the ones for my Eagle were 22 bucks each at Napa and had no drain plug and were not cast either

 You won,t have that problem when using "LUCAS" hub oil.>>>Dan

They were metal I tried to find ones with a drain plug they didn't make one that would fit my hubs because of the bolt pattern I believe you can buy that type for a 10 I see very few now with drain plugs

just run them with the old seals....eventually they will leak out onto the brake lining and you can then remove the covers without a mess on your rims on the outside.

 Only two reasons I can think of for leakage,,(1) old and wore out,  (2) bearings adjusted too loosely and not running on center.>>>Dan

I see we are on the same page here, I have been on another forum where there has been talk about how to change the hub oil, when this one showed up I could not contain myself, so had to post it here.
Seems the normal B.S. from the know-it-all types who are clueless but are word smiths, posting all types of useless info.
Thanks  for the comments, I now can sleep comfy knowing I have not lost my shrinking mind yet.
