question about tires

Got a potential deal working for some NEW never mounted tires. They have been in a climate controlled warehouse for 3 1/2 yrs.
My question is would they still be worth the trouble of buying and what would they worth to me OR you if you can use them?

The specs on them are as follows:

Brand    TOYO

Model    M124Z

Size       265.75R22.5

I can get a total of 14 of these here locally!

I also can get my hands on approx. 10 or so of mostly the same size (different brands) take offs which means they have about 3000 or so (not much more) miles on them. They all were for, or came off Large MH's to my understanding!

My tires are 12R/22.5 I don't know how that translates to the Toyo's. I might be interested in a pair of the Toyo's... I live in Colorado so I don't know about shipping. Or maybe Jim Sheppard would transport from a common rally you both are at??

the 265 is a good bit smaller than a 12r22.5 if I recall

315 is larger.

if going metric you will want a 295 to be as close as possible

From what I've read;
If you are going to use them constantly, go for it.
If you are an infrequent user, they will age very fast & dry rot.

This is because of the plasticizers migrating to the surface when the tire sits still. If the tire is constantly exercised, the plasticizers migrate back in the rubber.
I don't know why or how this works, just personal experience backs it up.

It would probably be a good idea to get the mfg data info off them and then get it translated into actual year of manufacture. Several people here on the board know how this works.

Ace- if you're thinking of using these tires for your bus, they are way too small.  They are rated at 10,410lb for the front and 19,220lb for tandem single axle.  Also, they are 38.7" in diameter (537rpm) compared to the 11R-24.5 that is 43.4" in diameter(475rpm). You'll be down rating your tires.  IMHO- you should stay with one of three tire sizes- 12R-22.5, 315/80R-22.5, or 11R24.5 16 ply.  265/75R-22.5 is what we use on our 26,000gvw trucks.  Good Luck, TomC

Ok Thanks guys! That's exactly what I needed to know! I just didn't know whther this would be a good deal to purchase them or not and I guess from the looks of it that it I would be better off to Not get involved.
