Anyone know of a good (read reliable & inexpensive) source for 24 volt dash light bulbs? I need 313, 356. and 1450 for my MCI. Evidently, the former owner did no night driving.

Try NAPA or a truck supply house locally.  BK here on the board might be able to help you.

I bought mine from C&J Bus Repair, but I was already there so I didn't have to pay shipping.  I would need to find work order to look up cost.

I originally thought they were 12 volt bulbs so I went to the auto parts store first.  They sold me the same bulb in 12 volt.  I installed it and the dash rheostat started smoking and quit.  It cost me $11 for a new rheostat.  Strangely enough, the rheostat was working fine a few days later and I now have a spare new rheostat.

It has been reported that purchasing a box from the auto parts wholesaler near you has the best success.

They may have to order them. They typically come in boxes of 10-12.

Purchased singley in the wrong place will cost many times a regular bulb.

Then you will have spares to give or trade to other busnuts in the dark!!!

Still Looking  :(

All the parts places (the closest of which is almost 40 miles from me) say "A WHAT???" when I start asking about 24V  bulbs.

I don't mind buying a box. Just like to find someone to buy from.

Anybody have a website? Supplier who will ship them?

Another question for you MCI owners. The manual says there is a 1450 bulb with .23 candle power and a 1450IF that is green with .23 candle power and another 1450IF amber that is 3.5 candle power. Anyway to tell the difference when ordering? . I have the original Challenger Maintenance Manual Copyright August 1974 Page 7-22A. Am I missing something here?

Thanks

Try a forklift dealer such as CAT. They use 24V on their equipment.

Don't know if it helps, hope so.

Not too long ago Bryce was asking if anyone wanted to go in with him to order a whole pile of 24V bulbs.

Maybe he has a few extras?
