Does a small amount of wetness on battery indicate a problem?

My starting batteries are two truck batts and there always seems to be a small amount of wetness around the caps after using the coach. Is this normal? Should it be completely dry? I have never had an issue, other than seeing that small amount of wetness. Are they boiling over?

Doubtful.  Most people tend to overfill batteries. Water needs to cover the plates inside.  Water doesnt necessarily need to be up to the top of the ring.  Check the fluid and see where its at, that should answer your question.

Hi Scott,
Sometimes when a battery is under a large charge cycle this wettness will show up.
There is a lot of bubbling going on inside and some of the water vapor can excape the caps.
The problem ( if there is one ) will be as opus stated.

Think of it as shower heat and water makes a vapor it has to go some place if not sealed that is why people like the AGM batteries excessive wetness and swelling of the case you do have a problem a can of coke and rinse with water will keep the batteries looking new

You can reduce this moisture with Water Miser battery caps or similar.  They allow the battery to vent but retain the liquid.  Less water use and less mess.

Will check the level and report back...my batts don't have to work very hard. Just to start the coach and run the lights all of which are L.E.D. now. So other than starting the coach, they have nothing to do.

My house batteries showed this and chargers were overcharging batteries. Boiled 2 center batteries out of 6 dry. Hope your problem is not as severe on bus. My 8v92 shows no moisture on top of batteries.
