Roof Air Question

The new to me 94 Prevost has 3 roof airs. Dometic Penguin AC model 610115. 411 or .311.

Two seem to working correctly but one is only drawing 3 amps (according to the panel AC readout) which is what the blower motor should draw. So the compressor is not coming on which should draw at least 12 amps and the discharge air temp is the room air temp.  It is not cooling.

Does anyone know if this unit has connections for pressure gages (the book is no help on this one) so the unit can be serviced? Or is this a totally sealed unit that nothing short of replacement will fix? If they are serviceable I'll get all three checked as vacuum pumps and freon gages are not in my garage tools.

What is your recommendation for best approach?

I don't believe there are any existing ports, but someone a little while back had posted a link to some add on taps and valves for this purpose. Maybe someone will chime in with that info.
Some are called, some are sent, some just got up and went.

I would check the electrical first starting with the starting capacitor and go from there AC places can charge those but they add the charging valve which always leak in my case be careful with the shrouds that piece of plastic cost over a 100 bucks I broke one last week lol

I also believe it sounds like the capacitor. They usually are the first to quit working!

I'll get someone to check it out. The last time I worked on the dryer I let the smoke out. All electric stuff runs on compressed smoke and it ain't good when you let the smoke out.

If the capacitors are bad install the hard start capacitors makes life easier for the generator on real hot days

I had the thermostat to stop working on a Coleman Mark 3.   
The thermostat controls the compressor and is easy to check to see if it closes the contacts with a 120 volt tester,  HTH   Glen

To answer your question regarding whether these roof top units can be fitted up with a valve and recharged, the answer is that some can. I had a Penguin that was no where near as cold as its other two companions, so the local a/c man installed a Tee and recharged it. Runs colder now. Of course, the question is, where and why did it leak freon in the first place?

And even easier than getting on the roof. I'll give that one a go as well.
