Check the latch on the emergency shut down sounds like you tripped it for shutdown

Any chance that you started it from the rear controls and left it on rear run control because that would not let the driver control turn it off.  Been there done that...

Like Clifford said your air flaps closed. Look for a lever on the right side upper of blower at the rear of your motor. Pull it back or down until it locks or clicks into place and then all will be well. Did you lift the red cover on the switch on your dash and throw that switch to stop it. That is only for when the motor is running away.

hey dave, the switch on the dash does not work, the engine stop on blower seems to be in the correct position according to the manual but I will look at it again in the light of day.

Bet its not locked down. Other thing would be low air pressure you couldn't shut it down without going to the back and using the shut down lever but you wouldn't be able to use the back controls either.

Anyone been in the electrical panel upfront by chance? Sounds like the same problem I am having. Recently, I have been working on electricals trying to get all of my outside lights working. In the process I have loosened some connection in the panel and it dosnt want to shut off from the front.......unless I twist/pull at the rats nest of harness in the electrical panel while in the off position. Hope this helps.
