Dose anyone know where I can find a vidieo of head removal on my 8v71
I took the cover off and found antifreeze  and some surface rust on the parts that say Jacobs on them, dal sent me the book but I have trouble with directions and find it easier if I see it first.

Everybody says it is not easy, seems to be a spring rail that has to be removed before I even get to the bottom bolts.then ther is a rod attached to that. Wat about all the fuel pipis inside?
These also are different as they are jake heads,at least that's what it says.

Remove the fuel lines,remove the Jakes,remove the fuel rod you call the spring rod to do that remove the top of the governor,remove the 2 pins holding the rod,remove the rods after you remove fuel rod best to remove the injectors so the tips don't get damaged   

I don't know what to tell you about the exhaust system we all do it different me I would roll the engine out the front head is a bitch for me without removing the blower maybe not for Dallas he is long and thin lol I don't envy you

I know less than nothing but FWIW I watched carefully while "Oscar" at Camp Luke did my inframe.  That was an 8-92 but I think the principle will apply.  It looked to me as though the tricky bit about the head was getting it back in place more than removing it.  There wasn't a head gasket like you would see on a conventional engine - instead there's a bunch of o-rings that could easily get disturbed when you set the head back down.  Doing that on a stand outside the engine bay would be orders of magnitude simpler than wrastling that big head back - gently - into place.  IMHO anyway.

Word to the wise, take photo's of everything you take apart... before you take it apart   ;)
