PD 4106 SERIAL NUMBER

The GM manual states that there are three places to find the serial number of a PD 4106: the plate on the right side of the dash, which is missing on mine; the right side of the cylinder block, which is so dirty that I cant find the number; and on the bulkhead in the tool compartment.  Does anyone know which is the door to the tool compartment?  I have looked in every compartment to no avail.
