Hi,  Can anyone tell me if a 24V 50DN  alternator can be converted to a 12V output?   Thanks, Tyler

I believe the windings and armature are different.

Tyler, I did see where one of the busnuts posted that there were only 1 or 2 part numbers that were different. You might do a little more digging to see what they are.

These units were able to have some parts replaced without removing the alternator from the engine. I don't know if they would be the right parts so that you could convert it.

For what it's worth.

If you do remove the 50DN, it weighs right at 100lbs.  Build a little wood ramp-it will be well liked by your back.  Good Luck, TomC

A good alternator shop may be able to tell you what it would take.  Certainly, I professional rebuilder, like Kirks, would know.
