John I have no idea about using rope light in the fashion you are using it.

Back when I was trucking I used to buy some from the chrome shops that came in like 10' strips and already had the ends on it and was ready to be hooked up. I just hooked two strips per switch on 25 A fuses.

Bob Glines might be able to shed more light on this as he's recently done the ceilings in his new project with it.

Does your rope ligh have pictures of scissors ever couple feet or so? if so that's where you can cut it. Dead end cut off you can place a pin in and solder wire to and use else where.  I use the led strip lighting now in rolls 5 meter 300 per meter less than .08 amp draw.you can solder them end to end =12 volt(less than $20) e bay no heat like the rope lighting.  The rope lighting you will need to use the mechanical plactic fastners that came with it and tie wraps.-because of expansion and contraction.  Use what you got just anchor well.If you did not get plastic anchor with kit. Try electric tie wraps with the screw eyes already in they about every foot.  Nice to hear your back to bus building.   Bob

don't connect ends. it is not a continious loop.I  guessing it did not come with a transformer that takec 120 ac to 12 volt dc but are straight 12volt Dc. Unless otherwise specfied I would put a run that long on a 30 amp fuse(12 volt dc) These are not led correct? If they were led 4 amp would be more to correct size.   Bob

That product brand is led and is aprox .9 watt per/ft installed at 12 volt so your nearst 12 volt fuse would be 10 amp.   math calls for a fraction over 6amp plus margin=.Heat shouldn't be a problem.
