cancelled my coverage today. was told they would not tow my over 40 year old coach. good sams for me this year!!

get coach net they will tow you and sometimes a long way. $129.00 a year for the Gold Plus.

Had coach net and needed them four times,not once did they show up. They did call with excuses or after I waited five hours to say we can't do it.......
I now have Allstate and have had service twice.once they even paid for a mobile welder to come out.i pay by the month $6.75

Dave, I was told yesterday,point blank,they would not tow me. Glad they helped you out when you needed it.but its too big a gamble for me. I dont wont to pay for insurance only to hope they will cover me. Sams told me they have no age restriction. Happy motoring, mike

Is this Coach-Net you're talking about? Your subject says rv net. The age restriction is listed right in the terms and conditions in the benefit guide. I believe Coach-Net asks for the year of the RV at sign up. They should have told you up front that your vehicle is too old.

This is the first I've read of Coach-Net actually refusing a tow, but most RVs are nowhere near 40 years old. The tow company not showing up at all or in a timely fashion has certainly happened to some Coach-Net users.

I don't think a lot of people understand that roadside assistance companies just hire independent operators on an as-needed basis. They do not own or operate the tow trucks. Many people will switch roadside assistance companies due to slow response, but the same tow operator may have been called regardless of which company you go with. Now, in this case switching roadside assistance providers is a necessity. Coach-Net probably doesn't want the liability of towing 40 year old vehicles as things may be more likely to break during a tow.

Yes you're right Bel, the age was restriction was mentioned on the web site, but they never asked the age of my coach when they took payment The only reason I still bought in was because I read on this board numerous accounts of coach net still honoring the tow cost. I guess it all matters on the tow company and the agent handling the claim. Oh well, since I never needed a tow ,it was no big deal. I will say though,the coverage gave my wife piece of mind LOL.

Wow.. we were not aware of the 40 year old limit. We signed up with Coachnet after reading many of the archives on these forums, and don't remember seeing this mentioned. And if it's on their website, it's not all that prominent to find.

But it is on Page 17 of our Benefits Guide... bad on us for not fully reading it. Nothing was stated about it during our sign up process, but I don't specifically recall if their online signup form asked (and I can't check now without paying for another plan).

Desi, Tell us about the Allstate thing that you have. Coach-net cancelled me because I didnt renew. I howled at them saying most companies would contact you first. Apparently they sent a bill that I never received. Sure enough, I needed them and they told me, I had to re-up but couldnt use them for 24hrs.

I questioned Coach Net before I purchased and below is response. I have used them twice (once for an MC9 I had just purchased) and another time for a truck. No problems...

On page 17 of the benefit guide the verbiage,"Vehicles over 40 years old are not applicable for benefits" is referring to classic/collector automobiles.
This age limitation does not pertain to any recreational vehiclethat a customer register with us. I have forwarded your concern on and we will verifyif we can make a change to the benefit guide in the future to state- personalautomobiles over 40 years old are not applicable for benefits.
I would like to personally guarantee you , that youwill not have any issues should you call for assistance on your RV. Please feelfree to keep my email on file as confirmation that your 1965 Eagle is covered underyour current Platinum Plus membership with Coach-Net.

I had coach net and when my pick up wouldn't start I called, they would tow to the nearest repair center which was a no name garage in an industrial place, I requested they tow it another 4 miles to the dealer where I get it serviced, after an hour wait I called AAA and they came, the driver asked where to, he towed it to the dealer no problem. I added the RV package to my AAA and they towed my coach when the started went last summer and the bill was over a grand. Read the fine print on these magic packages. There idea of a authorized repair facility may be different than yours.

I can't speak for Coach-Net policies purchased directly through the company or through other sellers, but we buy our Coach-Net coverage through FMCA and there is no such age restriction on converted coaches. That's not to say you won't get some operator on the phone who does not know that -- if that happens, just ask to escalate your call to a supervisor.

I believe the Coach-Net coverage sold through Escapees also has no age limit (on coaches -- they're not going to cover your 1942 Willys just because you use it to pull your travel trailer).

As far as tow companies or other providers not showing up -- Brian is right, in many places, there is only one road service outfit, and your call is going to be dispatched to them whether you have Coach Net, AAA, Good Sam, or Fred's Pretty Good Roadside Plan. And in other parts of the country, reimbursement from roadside plans is so far below market that no matter who they call, you're going to wait a long time. So "never showed up" is relative -- you might have to wait half a day or longer for a tow. If you want a plan that guarantees a faster response, you can get one, but be prepared to pay commercial rates. You're not going to get a response time commitment for a hundred bucks a year, no matter which provider you choose.
