OK, I've been through a lot of the archives.  There is a good bit of info on how to add a resister to make flashers "act right" when you go to LED turn signals.  OK, but isn't that reducing wattage with LED's (good ...) and adding wattage with a resister? If someone wanted to add LED turn signals without using resisters, how would it work? Does anyone have brand/name/part number for a flasher unit that would handle very low wattage loads?  (Yes, I know that you'd likely lose the "flashing faster means that the bulb is burned out" feature, but I'm willing to include this in the every-day walk round.)

I got on eBay and found a flasher unit that was advertised as one to use with LED lights.  Worked fine when the regular flasher woun't work.  Its been a while so I don't know the details other than the LED flasher was cheap and came directly from Hong Kong.

I used this LED flasher from Grote: http://www.grote.com/product.php?product_number=44890  It does require a separate ground.  They have other models with different pinouts.  I ordered from Ryder Fleet Products, but I think NAPA and other parts places can get them too.

Grote claimed the original Grote flasher in my bus would work with LEDs, but it did not.  I only had all LEDs on one side and that side flashed at a different rate than the side without LEDs.  I installed the LED flashers and the flash rate is back to normal.

Well I've never tried different flashers so I can't be of help there to ya.

But I did convert several of out older Setra's to LED lights a few yrs ago and left the front turn signal indicators standard.

Now on just one of the buses I did that with the left side flashes fast while the other flashes normal. I've checked everything and all lights work fine. Just the left flashes fast.

People are always telling me "you must have a light out on the left side, because it flashes real fast!"

I just reply "No it does that on purpose to catch peoples attention & make sure they are aware we are turning left." ;)

However the others all work just perfect.

just installed LED turn sig on rear only, no flasher change,  works just fine.  Oh mine are 12V. on this MC-8.

If you keep enough incandescent bulbs you won't have a problem with your flasher.  Most flashers require a minimum amp draw to function properly.  LEDs drop below that level if you put in all LEDs.

All electronic flashers adjust to the load that is why you pay 15 to 20 bucks for one and not 4 bucks for the old style
