OK.........So it's been longer than I planned. But it's been really hectic around here and I had planned to announce that we were the new owners of another bus company!

But the truth is dad & sis were right an I was over anxious and the deal just wasn't a deal.

The owner way over bragged on the business and the $ amount of the contracts on the books for this coming yr. And the 2 MCI EL3's (1 '99 & 1 '00) are just plain ragged out and not even put away let alone wet!

He claimed the buses were ready to be put in service, but it sure ain't OUR service.

They were supposed to have new tires all the way around and both had slicks on the drives an 1 had steel cords showing on the tags, and maybe 75% on the steers.
The other did have new steers and tags, but 1 drive was showing air! (well ya could almost see the air in between the steel cords)

Both have issues with electronic suspension. Both missing A/C compressor belts. And in general looked like they had been in service in NYC for the last 10-12 yrs or were straight off the bumper bus track!  (dashes falling out, dents and body parts misaligned all over)

Just not anything I would proudly put in service. (and as dad said we don't need anymore projects)

SO I guess I jumped the gun when the guy told me all the hype before we got to actually inspect the buses & books.

Probably for the better though. Can you see me admitting to owning to plastic MCI's?

Hey, they sound like buses that someone on this board would want to convert.

As much as I ENJOY, RELISH, DESIRE, LOVE to drive a well set up MCI 102EL3 Renaissance, make no mistake, I will fearlessly enter a shopping mall parking lot full of autos with a 45 foot Renaissance...

busnuts must beware...

If you do not relish the challenge of ensuring updated software, for the suspension, amongst other things, and undoing the disasters of the 2nd and 3rd tier coach companies half @$#'d approaches to trying to keep these model coaches on the road, and get the alignment of all six axles back where they should be, and keep it there...

An "E" model is not for the faint of heart.

Those who know what they are getting into will have VERY big smiles on their faces in exchange for the effort.

happy coaching!
