Hello-
What are the common things to check on a 1983 Prevost XL if the heat isn't working? It was used in the SW and heat wasn't a concern. Previous owner forgot how to get the heat to work. I need it to drive to NY in February. Thanks-

Nate,

Welcome, sorry not to be able to assist with Prevost knowledge, as I do not have a Prevost wallet. I will share on my initial voyage, I was wondering why it was so very hot driving into the July late day sun. Then I faintly remembered the MCI 5 driver's heat control bottom left, ankle height, and turned off the heat.

Best of Luck & Good Luck,

If everything is working it is simple to turn off and on if it doesn't turn off and on at the dash time to start the trouble shooting starting with the shut off valves on the engine and go forward all I can tell you

As Clifford pointed out. Two manual valves located on drivers side just forward of radiator. accessible through radiator door Just open door look forward of rad and there should be two valves.  Open them.  you might also have to bleed air from heat exchanger and defroster heat exchanger.  If valves have been shut off it is very likely you will have to add antifreeze after opening.  Do that first then we can cover next step which will be electrical.        Good source for this info is from   prevostcar.com      and get maintenance manual for your coach.   Just checked profile and saw you are new.   WELCOME   the only dumb question is the one not ask.   The manual for your coach is downloadable from prevost just takes time and ink/paper.    Bob

Nate: Welcome-----Is it a factory conversion? I could have auxiliary heat if so.

It's not a factory conversion and I don't have a Prevost wallet either. This is the bus I selected after, literally, years of watching every site I know of online. Ever since I had to sell my 1991 Dynasty in 2005, I've been watching buses. The conversion is half-done. I always thought I was after an Eagle until this Prevost came along. Maybe by the time I'm ready for my next bus, those 1990 35' Eagles will be in my price range...Is this part of the illness?...thinking about the next bus already...

I thought I was the only one waiting on a 35 ft eagle.  The one I want belongs to the first baptist church of concord NC. And they have it serviced at Davids coach regularly.

That is where i see it often. Maybe then when I go to the eagle rally i will not have to park over in the back 40.

Only thing wrong I will lose the wonderful sound of the Detroit and the black smoke from huggy. Some one else will have to kill the south Carolina mosquito's.
