Greetings fellow bussers!

Well, never said it was going to be e-z.   :P  We did experience a couple of crashes today.

Data is safe & continues to be backed up & stored off-server.  We may yet need to reload the server from scratch & put the data back on.  Last resort, but it is an option.  Goal is to get things back like they were running couple months ago.

Trying to refresh some images currently so it may be a little bumpy tonight.  Will try to keep everyone posted.

Phil,

I've been trying to reach you regarding gumpydog. I've tried email, PM, and responded to your email the other day. Still have not heard from you. I don't think you are receiving my messages.
Wondering if they are being picked off by your spam filter.

Hi fellow bussers.

Troubleshooting continues, and there will be outages as we continue to work on the system.  We will continue to post with status updates as we can, and certainly apologize in advance for the choppy service.  We are confident that this ship will be "righted" and we will get our focus back on our beloved buses.   ;D

Thanks for keeping us informed Phil, I can't imagine fooling with this stuff as often as you guys do.  You do a great job, all of you, I for one am very appreciative of your hard work and for having this board.  I will try hard not to panic any more in the future if I hit it when you are working on the system.  We gotta have our daily fix you know.

Wow Phil, there must be some pretty big issues with the forum as it relates to the other parts of the MAK site.  I see that when the forum is down, the busconversions.com site is down as well.  When it was down most of yesterday, I went into withdrawal.  I looked at the time stamp on a couple of your posts in this thread and you seemed to be burning the midnight oil.

Like others, we really do appreciate what you do for this forum.

We also appreciate your keeping us advised of the work being done.

The entire site, including the forum is hosted on a dedicated server.  The first crash occurred during the installation of an alternate classifieds software by another person who was doing work related to the Ning site.   That first crash may have caused corruption of system files or databases, causing subsequent crashes which in turn may be causing more corrupted files and data.

At this point Phil and I are discussing reprovisioning the server (reformat the hard drive and restore the operating system to a fresh install) and then restore the site and forum from backups.  This is not something we take lightly as it requires several hours of work on our part and additional forum down time. But it is looking to be the best action to restore the stability to the system that we all want and depend on.

One of us will post here when  we set a time to do the work.

Mike & Phil great job you guys are doing!

And hey the down time ain't no big deal either! Just means that we should be out working on our buses instead of sitting inside on our duffs on the computer! LOL!
Gotta run, got a nice warm shop with an MCI in it waiting for my attn!

Mike S, thanks for the update.  I certainly did not mean to slight you on all that you have done for this whole "organization".

What a mess.  I am sure glad that you and Phil have made sure that the data in the forum is backed  up/protected.

I sure hope that the powers to be have learned their lesson and leave the administration of the site to you guys.

As BK said, we can all live through this and we will try to be patient.

The updates give us the information we need to feel comfortable about the site/data and allow us to hang in their with you!
