Arcadia

Just returned from attending the Arcadia rally - first class fun!

I attended Jack and Paula's last rally last year and Bill and Linda's first rally this year.  Both were top of the line.  Looking forward to next year.

Yeah, I recognized that smiling fellow carrying the plate of food.   (Most of you on the board here don't know that Garhawk and I worked together in the same office in 1973 and again in the late 70's but hadn't seen each other for years until we noticed each other's posts on bus conversion forum.)

This was our first time at Arcadia - Unfortunately we were not in a bus.  The people that we met were truly salt of the earth.  We had a great time and everyone was super supportive and helpful.  We learned more in two days at this rally than we did all year reading and posting and digging online.  Brenda & Bill were awesome.  Huge thanks to them for putting on this event.  Something we won't miss next year.

Returned home 1 hour short of 10 days away in the late afternoon today.

3047 miles round trip,
1390 miles southbound, 1657 miles northbound.

Visiting on the way home and transporting bus parts for others.

A good time had by all.

Let's do it again next year!

happy coaching!

What kind of fuel mileage did you get?

I really wish I had been able to go to Arcadia again this year. I probably wouldn't take the bus again unless I drove it down in the fall and brought it back in the spring.

December is not the right time to drive a bus from Minneapolis to Florida.  I almost got in an accident on ice just feet after crossing into Georgia on the way down last year.  A car in the left lane spun on some ice and I thought for sure the car hit me.  I stopped and it turned out the car barely missed my bus.  I left before the police came as it was too dangerous to wait on the shoulder.

I got large amounts of rust and corrosion on bottom of the bus from all the salt used along the northern part of my trip.  Some of my rotating latches had to be replaced as they wouldn't turn even after massive amounts of penetrant.

Yeah but from what I see it's a driveway queen and those get awesome mileage because they never go anywhere! LOL!

I wanted to thank Bill & Brenda for the great setup and pulling it off so nicely this year, this was  my 5th event in Arcadia, I have been absent for the last 4 or 5 years as I sold the MCI7 and pruchased a store bought coach because I am no longer able to keep up with the MCI needs.  That being said, I sure do miss the ole bus, had been able to put it out of my head, but going to Arcadia and seeing many old friends and their bus's, I had a hard time keeping from returning home and selling the "Nice Coach" and going back to a bus.  After 22 years, a 12V-71 and many other mods and test setups, it is hard to turn it all off.  Turning 70 has not been good to me.  Rats !   Enjoy the youth while you can.

BK, I think you are on to something...

How about you offer to do a thorough preventive maintenance catch-up, on the house, to prove once and for all that this buswarrior fellow is just a pretender with only a picture and no coach?
