I have a major hurdle to jump!

Dear Friends,

I Have come up to brick wall trying to find an insurance company that will sell me liability insurance on a Mexican-registered RV (bus, of course) for traveling in the U. S. My usual sources that sell me U. S. liability on my other Mexican-registered vehicles (1996 Tahoe, 1995 Astro minivan) do not do RV's at all.

I have no problem buying Mexican liability for my bus for use exclusively inside Mexico.

I am not interested in full coverage, as it would probably be way out of the ballpark for us financially. Just want liability, so I don't have problems North of the border.

I have a valid Class B Mexican license, and am a 100 legal full-time immigrated resident (not here on a tourist visa) of Mexico.

I have not had a traffic ticket in the U. S. since 1979, and in Mexico since 1989.

If somebody would be kind enough to check with your insurance person for me, I would much appreciate it!

Not to let this go, can't help because my bus is on my policy with my car, my house, etc.  But when I lived in England, we always bought "overseas" insurance before we left home, not when we got to the foreign country.  I'm really surprised that your Mexican insurers or agents can't help (but what would I know)?

when travelling to Mexico I have bought insurance on the US side just before entering Mex. The price was competitive and much easier than trying to buy online/on the phone from Canada.   Maybe the inverse is possible.  If you have contacts/friends in a large border city, maybe have them look around.

As I stated above, we CAN buy liability in Mexico for a Mexican-registered vehicle for use in the U. S. -- as long as it is NOT a motor home. I have no idea why. I have tried several places.
