Webasto question

I recently bought a coach that has a Webasto in it. It came from down South and I am guessing that it had not been run for many years. I had it rebuilt and it runs fine now except the circulator pump up front bolted under the living room floor is really loud. There is another one in the engine compartment that does not work. One makes it work great but it sounds like it needs the bearings replaced. Thinking of fixing the one in the engine compartment and not using the loud one under the floor.
Question?? Do I need both pumps and is one just a backup pump? It is in a 1992 Liberty.

I have 2 pumps, one is an extra. Most the time I just use 1. So to answer your question, 1 should be fine....til I am told otherwise. Personally, I would fix it though. Never a good idea to leave something like that broke. Not that you asked for an opinion, but seeing I am here, I thought I would throw it in for free.

Some systems the extra pump are for engine pre heat it has to serve a propose they would not install a $200 pump for no reason maybe for flow if that part is not right it will drive you nuts cycling off and on and use a bunch more fuel

How do you use just one pump at a time? Do you have a way to turn them on separately? I have only the on off switch that I assume turns on both pumps at the same time. First Webasto for me, I had propane in the other two buses.

I have the factory pump thats mounted in the box with the unit itself, no control over that one. I then have one on the engine firewall and that one has a switch, should I want it on.

Trial and error is the best advice I could give on zones and managing them. In addition to those pumps there is probably a few ball and or gate valves incorporated into the mix.

Yours seems to be different but it does not suprise me.

All the ones I have messed with required both pumps so Im learning something here.

So right now your camper is still a bit smarter than you are. You need to get friendly with another liberty owner of the same vintage LOL

Yours may be different. Mine has two pumps. The one mounted as part of the Webasto/Aquahot circulates water to the engine when the Preheat switch is activated and the AH is running.

The other pump is mounted in the engine bay, and it is activated when the thermostatic controls are on but the AH is NOT. That way the coolant from the engine is circulated to heat the coach.

I am going to hook up the wires again tomorrow and see if mine works like yours does. I thought the pump in the engine area was dead but it may not be?? Something to check out.
