OK,  were getting the next issue of Bus Conversions Magazine together. Does anyone out there have some stories that they would like to summit to us? A few ideas might be... centerfold, road fix, trip from "hell"  or trip from "Heaven".  I can't believe it was built like this, my finished project, my next project, don't try this, or Try this. You have to see this.  Electrical idea, Dr. GREAT Bus repair tip or some great photo's, or some ideas of what you'll like written about in the upcoming months.
Please send them to

Very difficult to write. To many of the readers are educated experts in the fields and have to have everything exact to code!!!!       You can't do it that way because it's against the law in who care less in  I will never be there.  So I guess that is why we get basic how to put a toilet in articles.  Face it poo flows down hill..  I have done Island kitchen.  A coach with 2 slides( 8yrs ago) the coach hasn't fallen apart. Presently doing one with 3 slides and a bath and a half.  A 98 model Prevost 45ft XLE. I plan on having only twenty thousand invested in.  But it can't be done! Never it will never move down the road without killing some one. Death trap.  Get the Ideal!!  Why?????   Bob  The slides don't leak.

Hey Bob, I hear what your saying! So many times I have heard and read that it can't be done. I guess you and I are living proof that after so many years of things working when a lot of Guys said it couldn't when we were doing it, that it ended up in board arguments!

Don't get us wrong we don't build blind. Build on experience of what will work. When I remove a structural item I replace it 3 times over is my rule of thumb. I have found  structural engineered items I didn't trust and reinforced to my trusting. I was in the construction industry for over 40 yrs and have seen many failures.  I have no formal engineering degree.   Bob

Similar to the idea that you "CAN'T" put a slide in an MCI --- I've seen it done and it didn't fall apart --- But still can do articles about adding cruise engine swaps rebuilding radiators replacing air bags what to look for when adjusting brakes energy management new drivers seats moving the parking brake control and the like. So there are LOTS of things that make for interesting reading that will not cause controversy but have not been covered in recent issues.

Just a little different perspective.

Bob,

I agree.  I try to do everything as safe and practical as possible but if you put it out there you will get ripped for what you have done.  It matters not if it has stood the test of time.  I use my personal experience and knowledge along with the good information obtained from places like this forum and I go with it.

I just installed some push button on/off switches on my original coach dome lights. Anyone want to see a write up on that??  It made me happy.

Speaking for myself, I thoroughly enjoy the articles and I'm far from an expert in anything relating to a bus.
I enjoy reading both here and in the magazine the various opinions because they help me sort out a real world way to do mine as well as see how other did theirs to a positive outcome. Many, many ways to do what we do and very few actual singular "right" ways if you ask me.

I think some people confuse those things that need to be done 'legally correct' and those things which some people believe 'should' only be done in a certain way.

None of the things mentioned so far in this thread (island kitchens, cheaply-converted Prevosts, MCI slideouts etc) fall into the first category, so write away! Who cares if some people don't like what you've done? You can't do anything about the forum blowhards who love to criticise yet have almost certainly never even attempted the things you've achieved. So ignore them and write what you want to write, for the benefit of the many who would enjoy reading it.

To me, one of the joys of bus converting is that it has not (yet) gone the way of - for instance - hot rod or custom bike building, where originality and free thinking has been almost completely stamped out by the desire of everyone to follow the latest trend and produce yet another 'me too' vehicle.

A shameless plug for my business - visit www.magazineexchange.co.uk for back issue magazines - thousands of titles covering cars, motorbikes, aircraft, railways, boats, modelling etc. You'll find lots of interest, although not much covering American buses sadly.
