Help!!! Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed white streaks coming down above the upper drip rail side of the bus from the roof. I got on top of the bus and noticed it chalking(roof is painted white on the flat surface of the roof). I got water, soap and a brush and scrubbed an area and when I rinsed off the water was WHITE. I know I could get up top every couple weeks and scrub but I don't want to wear the ladder out.

1.What can I do to stop the paint from chalking if any?
2.What type paint do I repaint with?

This is a Eagle with a metal roof.

thanks in advance for your help!!!!

The hytech paint BusKote is a white elastometric paint that they add a ceramic additive to. I doubt that the additive does much. The price of their paint isn't too bad, but the shipping cost is. You also need to apply their clear topcoat. With that on, nothing sticks to it.

Clear coat the white that will stop it the roof coatings look like crap to me but if you have leaks have it bed liner sprayed with the smooth finish it will be there forever

good luck

I painted mine with foundation sealer I got at Hd. Painted over that with gloss white
I did it 6 or 7 years ago still looks great no chalking. I think of 5 gallon pail was like 50 bucks probably could've done two busses

Mine did that a few years back after applying a cheap coat of mobilehome roof coating. ($30./5gals) I cleaned it really good with a mild bleach and soap solution before applying a semi-gloss white roof paint for metal roofs that I picked up at Wally world for around $15./gal. Took less than 2 gal.s to do the entire roof. No more obnoxious white streaks down the sides since. Going on 4years now. Added bonus of being much easier to clean each year. ;D
