Little trip but first in a year. MC8

Have been working on the bus all summer off and on.  I still have to work for a living, so have to work the bus around everything else.  Planning on a trip to See Fred Hobe next month for steering replacement, so been trying to slay all the mechanical dragons.  Ordered new tires and wheels 24.5's for the rear several weeks ago.  Finally made the trip to have them installed today.  Only about 30 miles each way on the interstate, but it was my first time on the road in a year with her.  She did FLAWLESSLY.  Hearing that 8V71 purr down I-64 and back just did my heart good. 

I put 6 bandags and new wheels on the rear, so she should be set for a while.  Pretty white 2 hole wheels.  Now she needs a bath.  In the process though, we discovered some bad studs.  This is the first time I've had the wheels off so had no clue.  So my next project is to replace all 20 studs on the drives.  Tags were ok.  Bob Somerel Tires in Winchester, KY was the place.   Real professional group.  They even torqued everything, without me even mentioning it.  I was impressed with the whole experience.

Nothing like a little successful run down the highway to re-energize you.

      That's good news.  I will get my bus out of the shop for the first time in 3 years in the next month or so (it's been run around the yard about every month but that's not like getting out on the road).  My plan is to run a couple of 3 mile loops in the neighborhood, get her hot and then check everything over.  If all is well (or after all is made well), then I'll drive 15 miles north and then back again, stop at the shop and check things out then 15 miles south and back again.  If it's good after the 60 miles total, then longer runs (some at night to check lights, etc.).  More checking and adjusting than driving!!

  Im really itching to get mine out, and the more I read stuff like this the itchier I get. Only I need to get some rubber on it "before" it leaves the yard, lol.

I try to run mine at least once a month and mostly every two weeks, but for the past year it's just been moving around the lot just to rotate the wheels and move the tranny between drive and reverse.  So the run up I-64 was SO much fun.  Even with the 10 inches or so play in the steering, it was still a thrill to drive.  There have been many times over this past year that I felt like I was getting no where (and I haven't even started on the conversion part yet).  One step forward and two or three back.  The more I looked, the more issues I found.  I kept telling myself that I should not be complaining but be thankful that I am finding them now instead of jumping behind the wheel to early and finding them, broke down on the highway.  Hopefully I will eventually run out of things to leak air.
