I absolutely LOVE the HT-754CR, put many a mile on coaches equipped with them.

BUT -

You're thinking of spending a big chunk of change, not to mention time and effort, just to go over a few speed bumps on 77 & 79 twice a year on your RT to FL?

Really?   :o

"I use cruise a lot. . ."

This quote tells me something right off the bat: You're not driving the coach when you get to the ups and downs, you're letting the cruise do the work.  No wonder the idea of a transmission swap. . . BTDTHTS.

Before you spend a whole bunch of bucks on a possibly non-existent problem, next trip, when you get to the speed bumps, turn the cruise OFF and drive the coach like it was a stick shift, shifting properly (read article link below).  You might discover the bus runs better than you thought!  (He**, Greyhound ran over 4,000 buses equipped with the HT-740 all over the USA and managed (for the most part) to maintain their schedules - you're just on vacation!)

Think about it, hard.  You may find it will be a better investment by putting the trans swap cash into something inside especially designed for mama!

FWIW & HTH. . .

;)

I really like your reply, RJ. I think that you may have saved the man some money and frustration.

Take care.

Yup, what RJ said.

I've run I77/79 with my own MC8 with HT740, as well as MCI EL3 Renaissance, DD S60 at 400 HP with Allison World 6 speed transmissions, and MCI D models with 7 speed manuals with CAT power.

The 740 is not hindering you.

I've pulled Fancy Gap at 50 mph in the new stuff and bunch of folks on, and I've pulled Fancy Gap at 44 mph in the stock 270 HP MC8, 3rd gear in the 740, 3.7 differential, in bus conversion trim.

Send your cash to me, if you don't want it anymore. E-mail in profile.

happy coaching!
