I am replacing the flooring in the bus and was wondering if it would be wise to cover over the front access panel with wood flooring.  I have seen other Eagle owners have done this but wanted to make sure I wasn't asking for trouble.  The bus now has an automatic transmission, so there would be no need to service any shift linkages.  Thanks.

Thats how our's is and I have not had a reason to remove the panels. When I changed the flooring I looked in the tunnel and found the old shift rods and saw no reason to worry about access. Just my way.and in my 05 I have access from underneath if I really need to get in there.

I figured as much.  I took a peek too, and didn't see any reason other than servicing the shift linkages for the since-removed manual shifter.

Thanks Andy.

i cut in access in the plywood, but not in the carpeting.  if i ever really have to replace anything in the tunnel, i'll but thru the carpet and then make it look pretty, or just buy new.  it wasn't that expensive in this small area.

Marc, if the throttle is still the rod type it has linkage there and some have the stop light switch under the hatch check for 2 wires and a switch easy to move and if you have a cable or air throttle you are good to go

good luck

Thanks Clifford, it's an air throttle.  I'll look for the stop light switch.

If you ever have a defrost heater hose let go in that area you will be glad you left an access.

I left one in mine!
