minni-split heat side

frosty 35 this am: 40 in bus when I went up to work on ceiling. So good chance to try out mini-split. Have 3 2 ea 9000 and 1 ea 12000. started 1 ea 9000 to try out. was concerned when it just didn't start blowing hot air. Inverter technology.!! takes awhile to get use to. It ramps up to speed slowly. 5 minutes later the discharge air and fan speed had increased to a very warm air discharge. 15 minutes later it cycled off at 70 degrees. this is with one running in a cold bus. no need to start other two! suppose to be efficient down to teens and actually work into single didgets. has elect heat back up. Best part--- runs on 9 amp 120 volt at full power. I'm pleased with my selection. Super quiet operation.

Solleus with the 410R refrigerant. Not sure about spelling but cooling is impressive also.

How/where did you install the units? Do you have any pic's? I was just getting ready to install the roof a/c's but these seem like a much better option! Plus no roof warts!!

they need to be about 60 inches off floor. at least 6 inches from ceiling I put one in front over windshield as part of cabinet/ran wires and lines down front windshield post under cover. 2ND mid ship part of cabinet Note moisture was a concern so made sure it was at bottom of cabinet and bottom of unit left exposed. 3rd is in bedroom. This is a 45 ft coach with 3 slides and a raised roof. Total cost $1450. delivered to house for 3 units. Special attention to moisture but a little common sense takes care of that. set a little off level toward drain side. I have no $ intrest in this system. It just works for me. Is my 4Th build with two of the previous being roof top and one basement. Best for me of the three. definitely most efficient and quietest by a long shot. Bob

Bob's units are 120. I can't help ya with model #'s but I do know he bought the 3 as a pkg deal! (off ebay I think, not sure so don't hold me to that!)

I have seen them installed and also witnessed their effectiveness in the heat! The evening I stopped in to check out the progress Bob showed me it was 98* when we went in the bus, 15 mins later it was already down to 73-74 very quick, & quiet!

Thanks. That's good to know. Now, to find a place to put the "condenser" units on my bus.

food for thought on condenser unit. If compressor is kept upright the rest of the unit doesn't care. Maybe flat on roof blowing up. couple inches under for air intake. Would have to pump down and recharge but that is a minor trade off in this case..When BK visited we just had 2 of the three units turned on. The third I have to recharge. I cracked a fitting during installation (my dumb mistake) MCI 8 tin tent is a hvac guy and is going to do it for me. It is pumped down and ready. By the way kits are available on line to recharge with gauge for around $50.

Would be great to know the specific model # and also see pictures of your install. Are you installing these like the cruisair units? Any concern about vibration or are you isolating vibration in some way?

I'm not breaking new ground here. Jerry ,Duwayne,Nick,and many others have gone before me. Anchor lines well. use clamps with rubber or leather inserts. Use soft refrigeration copper. Insulate lines. use common sense. MiniSplitShop.com is running the 9000 btu unit heat and cool for around 399 now.Soleus. Need to shop for deals and ask for combo deals. Bid on E-bay. 120 volt units stop at 12000 btu some guys use step up transformers and buy the 220 units. Cheaper to buy without line sets and buy your own lines and elect wire. If your in no hurry shop around. My 3 units came from evergreen products 2 ea 9000 and 1 ea 12000 1450$ delivered to Indiana Inverter type heat and air 410 r refrigerant. Don't really think brand is all that important as ref type. Ck your local hvac warehouse for a deal never know?

I have had a 12000 unit in my bus for four years now and no problems. It is 410 refrigerant and that operates at a high pressure so can lose refrigerant . I had to get an adapter to hook up guages to the unit .

I'd be very curious to get some advice on where / how a mini-split system might fit into our bus. Getting more efficient cooling would allow us to run the AC's longer off of our lithium battery bank. And if we get rid of the roof AC's, we could put a MaxxFan in the bedroom and a roof hatch / skylight in the living room.

Fantasizing....

Observation: only the compressor needs to remain vertical the rest of the condenser knows no difference. the 9000--16 seer pulls 6.5 amps 120 V Max...Inverter Tech. Will get you the exact model # Bob

KFIHP-09-10 seer 16 9000 cool 6.5 amp 9500 heat 7 amp heat all at 115 volt. Inverter technology. Bid on E -Bay and purchased 2ea including shipping for $800. Basically $400 dollars each. Did Not include copper tubing. . I also bought a 12000 btu on same package and package total delivered was $1450.(for all 3) Bob
