I normally can find most of what I need on the internet, but this one has me stumped.

I have a nice office chair I really like and would like to recover, it is modern in design, it has a plastic frame with foam and fabric.

The seat area is concave so new fabric cannot be stretched over it, it would leave a void. The present material is somehow adhered to the foam.

It appears the new fabric will have to glued/adhered/bonded to the present material in the seat area. As I search the internet I can not find an adhesive that stands out for this purpose.

Is this doable?  Any suggestions on adhesive?   JIm

I would use 3M headliner adhesive.  there seem to be a few to choose from now.  Test for bleed-through, some fabric just isn't meant to be glued.

James,

Look up "Stitch Witch" at your local Wally Wart.

Once you have that under your belt, look in the craft section for the rolls of the same stuff but under a different name.

You use an iron, or a heat gun and some weights to adhere one fabric to another, and believe me... if your doing it right it'll never come apart.

You would be surprised where that stuff is used and what it will hold together.
I'm just an old chunk of coal... but I'm gonna be a diamond someday.

I'm sure standard spray upholstery adhesive is all you need; I've used it for lots of jobs involving fabric / leather / carpet, vinyl etc - it's pretty much universal stuff for any sort of textiles.

This sort of thng:
